The one-day course offers a deep dive into managing SQL with PowerShell, divided into five modules.

The initial module provides an overview of the course structure, introduces the course materials, explains administrative details, and discusses the prerequisites. Upon completion of this module, students should be able to log into their virtual machine and have a comprehensive understanding of what the course will cover.

The second module delves into PowerShell and SQL, covering SQL Server Cmdlets and SQL Server Management Objects. The module also explores the installation process of the SQLPS Module and highlights recent updates in the field as of July 2016.

In the third module, students will explore SQL administration with PowerShell. This includes retrieving information on SQL Server instances, managing logins, adding files and filegroups, as well as understanding how to detach and attach databases. Students will also gain an understanding of backup and restore functionalities, and the management of indexes.

The fourth module introduces monitoring and automation concepts in SQL management with PowerShell. The module will cover a variety of useful cmdlets, discuss scheduling options, and delve into tracking performance metrics.

Finally, the fifth module is an optional module that discusses working with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). It provides a brief introduction to these capabilities, encouraging further exploration.

Upon completion of each module, students will have gained proficiency in the respective areas covered, from understanding SQL and PowerShell interaction to SQL administration, monitoring, automation, and understanding SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS.
